There are lots of places online to learn how to make sock animals: here
This is my version of a sock bunny.
Supplies needed:
Baby/toddler sock - the smaller the sock, the smaller the bunny. The sole of the sock is the body of the bunny the top becomes the ears and the heel is the face.
Sewing machine, thread, sewing needle, scissors, stuffing,
small/medium size craft pom pom
Fabric paint/markers - I chose to use paint so I can give these to a small child with no fear of them biting off a button or set of plastic eyes. Lots of patterns and tutorials call for embroidery. I don't do embroidery.
OK, lets get started:
Lay your sock with the heal facing up and centered
Cut from the top of the sock to about 1/2 to 1 inch from heel. The top part has just been cut to form the two ears. The heel of the sock becomes the bunny's face.
Cut the toe off the sock at the seam.
Turn the sock inside out and stitch from the top of one ear, down to the heel, and back up to the top of the other ear.
Turn so your sock is right side out and stuff. If anyone has any tips on stuffing stuffed animals without looking clumpy please add your comments to the end of this post - or email me!!
Fold the toe of the sock over so no raw edges are showing and stitch closed by hand (this is the bottom of the bunny) Add the pom pom on the back side for the tail.
Use puffy paint or fabric pens to complete the face. I got my ideas here
Here is a bucket full of my finished bunnies. I think I will use them at the table for Easter dinner tomorrow. They would also be fun party favors for a spring birthday. What will you do with your sock bunnies?
